Hey lawdawg,
like you i wanted the best of both worlds but i wouldn't start cuttting into any wires, the harley dealer told me they had done a few by adding quick connects to the wiring but that it cost about $800.00 and they wouldn't really recommend it.

so i took it upon my self to investigate, and i found that everything unplugs pretty easily without having to cut anything and you can tuck it all under the seat neatly and I ordered a hidden antennea from kuryakyn for $40.00 i rarely use the cb but i think that you can get a cb with the street glide or the standard so they have to have some way of mounting it.

I have an '06 ultra, and it looks great with out the tour pak i am having my dad who is a machineist make me a custom cover plate for the rack that is left there just for looks!!

So far, no problems with rattles, but there is a guy on here that makes billet mounts for the docking hardware, and he's gotten good reviews from those who have used his product.
Any idea how to find this guy? I searched for "billet docking" and "billet docking hardware" and got nothing useful...

I guess I don't understand those that add tour packs tomotorcycles that don't have them and those that remove them from motorcycles that do. I guess there's some reasoning in there somewhere but I like my tour pack and plan on leaving it on.
LOL....at the time I bought my EGS.....had no intentions of adding a tour pak. And THEN...comes a girlfriend. Although it's only been on a short time...I manage to fill it up TOO!!! Dont think I'll take it off....but it's nice to have the detachable kit for cleaning purposes....and that occasional 'mood swing' when I want to be 'different'.

ironhide, any pics of the cover you made for the rear rack. I removed the tour pack, all the wires fit under the seat, now I'm left with a rack full of holes. Ugly, if there's anything out there, share.
