Too Much Loctite & Treaded Fairing Inserts
Can you put too much Loctite on the fairing screws?
When I put the cruise control on the EGC I put a lot of Loctite on the fairing screws. When I tried to tighted the fairing back up after adding this fair pouch the inserts pulled out.

The plastic part where the brass inserts fit were cracked also. Could too much Loctite have screwed me? Was I trying too hard to tighted the fairing back up?
I superglued the inserts back in place and hope they will stay this time.

I have had my inserts pull out also. I've never used locktite on the screws and don't think its a good idea to do so. I just press the insert back in and just barely snug up the screws. I've never had them come loose. I already have plans to just drill through the inner fairing and put chrome or stainless acornnuts on the inside if the inserts don't hold.

so yeah, the bolts don't need it.
I am real careful about these as I switch my screen out quite a bit and they have pulled out a bit over the many times I have changed it. Finally, when the fairing wouldn't seat well I pushed the sleevesback in with my thumb. If this happens again, I will paint a little epoxy to the outside of the brass sleeves when I push them back in; hopefully that will do the trick.
Until then, I don't do any more than snug them up.
It really isn't something to worry about too much, especially if you carry a toolkit on your bike. Just go easy on thetorque.

I had mine loosen up when I switched windshields. Had one of the inserts slip in the fairing, so it got superglued in place. I also then used a small drop of loctite blue to gum up the threads a little and keep the screws from loosening up. I switch windshields a lot depending on weather and have been keeping tabs on those screws. If the inserts break loose again, I'll throw some JB Weld on them and press them back in. That ought to take care of it for good.

I had this happen to me too. Tried the JB weld, but I don't think it works so good with plastic. Did it twice and they still broke loose. Bought some Gorilla glue when I was at the hardware store and it seemed to do the trick. Just don't tighten them down too tight and you should be okay.
