Default Floating Rotors / New Pads

Well I finally had the time last night to install the HD floaters on the front and Lyndall Z-Plus brakes pads all the way around. I also took the time to thoroughly clean the calipers, pistons, pins, etc. WHOOHOO, the front brakes are back to the way there were.....not mushy, a nice firm brake lever. I do have a question for those that have gone this route: I know there is a break in period, of sorts, for the rotors. Instructions state to avoid hard braking for about 700 miles. But, does the stopping power eventually return? The first thing I noticed this morning was the need to apply the brakes a bit harder than normal to get the same stopping power; both front and rear. I assume this could possibly have to do with the new pads?

Just curious...

Thanks,
Brian

The break in is normal city riding, not high speed riding (such as hiway). Both rotors and pads have a break in. As the pads get seated to the rotors there will be some change in the pressure and feel involved in braking.

Joe, so far I only have the floater on the rear. Had to get rid of AWFUL squealing from the rear. First thought was that it did not stop as good as stock, but after about a hundred miles it's fine. When it's time for front brakes or tires floaters are going on the front as well as some kind of braided lines.

Z-Plus/floaters....great combo....pads seat real quick and require NO break-in!

On used bike 07 have floating rotors, frontend oscilates and pogos slightly under light braking, hard braking works fine. What ya think.
