LYNDALL PADS.......I changes the pads out in just minutes....what a difference. I don't think a harley should sound like its dragging tree limbs down the road
LYNDALL PADS.......I changes the pads out in just minutes....what a difference. I don't think a harley should sound like its dragging tree limbs down the road
2001 RKC
I have had just a small amount of noise from mine sense I changed them over to the Lyndall Pads. Periodically blowing the brake pads out with air helps too.
I was at the dealer on Wednesday looking for a windshield bag for a 4" shield (still have found nothing to fit) and on the way out talked to the guys at the service counter about the brake squeel. It was a different guy than I had talked to a couple of weeks ago that said I would need the floating brake$ to fix it. I told him that I had read on another forum that people had some success filling the alluminum front wheel voids with some kind of expandible foam. Suposibly(SP?) it is the wheel humming and not the brake pads. One guy had no idea what I was talking about, but another guy said that he had heard of it and that they had done it. I asked them if it is covered under warrenty and he said that they have to get it approved. It was so I took it in on Thursday. I picked it up on Friday and have only ridden it about 10 miles, but I have absolutly NO squeel. I'm not sure exactly what they did, but it seems to have worked. If the weather gets better and I get a chance to get out today, I'll give you more of an update.
I ordered these floaters from Benjy's for $95 each or $200 shipped. Problem sovled. $190 each seems awfully steep to me.
I originally ordered the wrong rotors, so I swapped the stockers while waiting for my floaters and that fixed it too.
BTW: BIG PLUG for Benjy's. I ordered the wrong parts. I called Jenny and told her what I did. She said, "no problem, ship them back to me and I'll get the new ones out to you". She ordered the correct part and had it to me in one week and didn't even wait for me to ship the wrong parts back to her. Didn't charge me shipping again either. Benjy's will get first crack at everything I need from now on. Jenny is just awesome to work with.
