the numbers quoted in the manuals are suggested settings.....the only thing you do not want to exceed is the maximum inflation pressure.
Find what you like....based on your weight,passenger weight and baggage weight. find the setting you like for whatever you are carrying and how you want the ride to feel.
Stiffer/more responsive will require higher pressure settings......softer/sluggish require lower pressure settings......
Just remember DO NOT exceed he maximum inflation pressure.......
In addition to running the proper inflation and not exceeding the max air. Do not use a shop air compressor to fill them. They only need a little bit to reach 30lbs real fast. A hand pump is quite adequate for the job.
