How the heck does the chrome cover over the handle bar clamp come off? I need to adust the bars. I have asked 4 or 5 people (not techs obviously) met at 2 different dealerships, and no one has been able to tell me yet. It has to come off somehow.

Thanks in advance,

The little chrome ring that says lock/unlock where you lock the steering head comes off with a small screwdriver (just pry it up and it pops off) there are three screws under it that hold the cover on.

What he said but there is a bit more to it than that. The chrome "spear" that runs along the top of the nacelle needs to come off and it requires going in through the front behind the headlight.

1 screw to pull light ring off
8? screws to pull headlight out
1 nut to pull trim off (I think its a 7 or 8MM)
pop cover off lock ring and remove screws

Should take you 5-10 minutes depending on skill level

If your going to be in there - You might want to change out the upper handlebar clamp... The OEM is Junk...

Like the others have said, once you know what to remove, it only takes about 8 minutes. I adjusted my bars, late last year and it made All the difference!
Good luck.

Dave...

Yep....Beware of the little screw that holds the spear. It's a pain to get to.
