08 SG, 6200 miles and the only problems so far was a squeeky rear brake, the gas tank MUST have a leak(need to keep refilling), and I have to work and not ride it more.
No issues. The guys who don't like TBW also probably don't like 12 volt system with battery, electric start, tubeless tires, EFI, cast wheels, etc, etc, etc.
We went through the same kind of posts when the 07s came out. Some people posted about the
5th gear noise but the majority of 07 owners said it is the best Harley they've owned and the 5th gear noise was not an issue. There hasn't been a single 07 trans failure or breakdown of any kind that I know of but that didn't stop the negativeposts from a few people. Then there is the one person, and you know whothat is,who doesn't even own an 07thatbitched the most again and again and again trying to get us to sue the MOCO over a problem that doesn't even exist.
Straight cut gearsmake a little more noise thanhelical cut gears and it's as simple as that.
The IDS was not a band aid just an after market addition just like all the others we add to make a great bike even better.
Don't believeeverything you read on this forum unless you can verify it and know for sure it is true. After being on here a while you learn which postersknow what they're talking about and which ones don't.
It sure sounds to me like the majorty of 08 owners are just like the 07 owners. VERY HAPPY!.
i've got 3500 on my 08 egc..love the bike no problems whatever..the rear brake squeal is a little annoying but not enough to worry about, will take care of it when the stock pads wear out..

Exactly! The same people that claim that Harley should have never put TBW on a bike but have never riden one with it are the same people that will vote they've had problems. So nice idea but don't count on it being anything to accurate. Just like the post saying he had his back 7 times but failing to mention if any were TBW issues. I doubt if his vote will be biased in anyway
Great response from an uneducated, bone stock riding, first time Harley owning A$$hole.
So why don't you educate me tough guy. Did you have your bike back 7 times for TBW work? Thats what the pole is for ain't it? You might want to get this tough with your dealer if you have had it back 7 times for the same thing. And it's MR A$$hole to you.
I had three Gold Wings b4 I bought my 08 Ultra. The last GW I bought new in 2006..thought it was a great bike until I hit 150 miles..left me stranded on a back road out in the country. Had to have it towed and took the dealer three weeks to figure out what was wrong. Died a second and third time and left me stranded again. Towed again. Bought the Ultra and love the bike. I've had no problems and my dealer (Montana) is one of the best !! NO REGRETS

At the 1000 mile service the stealer cambered the edge of the rear brake rotor because of the brake sgueal. It squealedverylittle shortly after that but does not do it any more.
