Default Voltage regulator 2006 harley davidson streetglide flhxi

I am wondering what is in between the 2 connectors??? Is it some type of thermal sensor? All the replacements only have the 2 connectors on the outside ends.

You are corrrect that the Voltage regulator only has two connectors for the unit itself. One goes to the stator, the other to the wire harness.

What you see in between the two regulator connectors, is a connector for an unrelated sensor, probably to the CKP sensor, that is just being anchored to the back of the regulator for wiring support.

You will find that the bottom most part of that connector anchors to a "nail head post" that is part of the regulator body. The connector attached to it, has a keyhole type hole, that will fit over the post, then slide in one direction, to "lock it in place" so it can't pull off the post.

I doubt you'll see that post on other than OEM HD regulators. Again, just a convenient place to anchor a connector...

Here is a pic off the internet, that shows that mounting post on an OEM HD Regulator...

Jiffy stand sensor has been known to be anchored up in the front, perhaps that’s what that one is.

Thanks for that info! Is there a specific way to disconnect that sensor? Does it slide out or pop straight up or is there a special tool that would help?
