Default can somone help an IDIOT?

I feel like the biggest idiot right now, and i am embarrased to even have to post this but i am at my wirs end! i have a 2000 rkc and i bought a new ss shifter linkage and was putting on the back bolt that holds it on to the tranny lever. Well the bolt came out of my hand and i can't find the da%#mn thing anywhere! i have spent the last hour looking for this bolt, and i can't find it anywhere at all! i have looked averywhere on the bike, in the bike, the floor, it is just so pissing. its not like its a small bolt i cant beleive i cant find it! any suggestions? i even got out one of those magnets on the telescoping rods and probed around everywhere still nothing AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! sometimes the simple tasks are the ones that just drive you nuts!

I can offer no help ,just sympathy... I've been there and Its very disturbing... Sometimes it helps to leave and go somewhere to get a break and CLEAR your mind. Come back in a couple of hours or even the next day and BINGO you find it. It has happened more than once to me. Hope this might help.....hdman

The same exact thing happened to me. I found it with a telescoping magnet by probing around in the gap between the engine and the tranny.

A 15 minute job becomes an all dayer!! Been there done that!
Two Places I have lost them;
1. Between the Chrome Transmission Top and the Starter, Need a magnet to retrieve.
2. Down between inner primary and lower transmission at front of drive belt, Try rolling bike forward and nut might fall out.

Harleys are the Black Hole for nuts and bolts. Good Luck, Zen

Move the Bike Sweep (and I mean sweep with a broom) the whole area. Have someone sit on bike and lean as far over both ways as you can. Empty your pockets, your friends pockets, check the dog and cat. If that dosn't turn it up go get a new one.
