Default front axle pinch bolt

I noticed this afternoon that one of the nuts on the Axlepinch bolts on the RIGHT side of the bikewere broken, This on a 06 Road king. It looks like it was overtightened and riding on it maybe snapped. What is involved in replacing the bolt. It looks like it may thread into the lower fork, but i,m unsure.

Any ideas?

Frank

Edited so I dont get my &$#@ busted anymore .....LOL

yes it is a stud that is in the fork leg. I would NOT ride the bike until it is fixed......handling problems will occur as a result....

Parts:
45998-73 Stud MSRP $3.50
6702 Washer MSRP $.30
7041 Lock Washer MSRP $.50
7748W Nut MSRP $.99

You sir are a life saver. Saw your post, called the dealer, and poof. Bike repaired. I,m sure this will teach me not to read the service manual fully as it says to torque the pinch nuts to 50-60ft/lbs but doing it at equal tightning. I,m guessing I put too much on one of the bolts, causing it to stress and snap on a good bump.

Thank you (Beers on me)

You need to check your torque there partner. If you're talking about the axle holder nuts they should torque to 132-180 in-lbs.If you put 50-60 ft-lbs on them, that is whyit snapped.

Old thread, but useful information! Especially when I just snapped one of the pinch bolts myself!
