...holy cow, those things pump up EXTREMELY FAST. Thank God I was smart enough to only leave the little air compressor on for .5 seconds before rechecking the psi. In 0.5 seconds, the shocks went from 0psi to 45psi! YIKES! Any longer and I probably would've blown them.

Uh yeah, opne of those little handheld inflators is definitely in my future. I just about made a big mistake!

You came very close to making an expensive mistake if they are not blown. they hold very little volume of air. Go to your dealer and by the shock pump for 40.00. Its worth it!

I found out the exact same thing. Cycled the compressor on for just a second and the pressure went real high and it was hard to adjust back to where it was supposed to be.

Went and bought the HD hand pump. It is much more controllable.

Yeah, getting it exact was tough! I went too high first (as I stated above), then let a tiny wee little bit of air out and it went too low. Did this a few times with super short bursts and got it where I wanted it for now. But yes, I'll definitely pick up one of those hand pumps. It's pretty much required I think.

Exactly! They're not blown, which is a good thing. But yes, I came very close to screwing up!

I picked my hand pump on ebay for like $25 and it works great. Nice and small. It never leaves my tour pack. No way I'd even try an air compressor.

I'm glad you got lucky! I did the same thing, once and was also lucky. I ordered a hand pump from Jireh Cycles for 19.95 and am very pleased with the quality and compact size. It also has a bleeder button like the H-D pump(43.95).

I figure you can't screw them up any more than they are in the first place.

You know, about 1/3 of the owners manual is warnings - one of which advises against compressors. I'd recommend you check it out before you touch your bike again.

And speaking of the hand pump - how can it be a pump if not even 1/2 of 1 pump fills the shocks? It's more of an air pusher than air pump.
