Hypercharger's
 

They say a Hypercharger will add 7-10 HP. Does anyone have any comments about this? Or is this just for the looks? The new ones have no drilling required just a vacume hose to hook up, this should be something I could do at home. I already have a stage 1 kit installed.

Beware the ads that say you will gain HP from their product. If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is. Adding a Hypercharger might get you more air, but if you search here or read, an Hd engine is a big air pump. The more air that goes through, the more power, it really is as simple as that. That is why a Stage 1, more air in, the right AFR and more air out increases power. 7-10 Hp is more than 10% over stock, a huge improvement. Now, if you add the Hypercharger, a good fuel management system and a set of free flow exhaust, I would buy in that you might get near the low end of that range, bu not with the Hypercharger alone. I had one on a shovelhead I bought a while back, it's in a milk crate in the garage somewhere. Don't go for the fluff unless you just think it looks cool, do your homework and then methodically make your changes.

I watched Dr Dyno out at Sturgis work on tuning. He had a bike with a Hyper Charger on the dyno, and held a card in front of the intake. Every time he blipped the throttle the card was sprayed with gas droplets. It seems the front forward facing air scoop can't handle all the air coming in at highway speed, so it sprays back out, onto the engine and/or pants leg.

That was on a carbed bike, byw, not fuel injection.

.....ahhhh..yessss...the infamous "Hyper-Charger"....to each his own, but to me they look like a chrome toaster oven with flappin-doors....I can see havin one on a slammed street-bike....but a Bagger?....no way....like putting a hood-scoop on a Lincoln Town Car....and they don't do squat for HP over any other free-flow set up...[:'(]

A Hypercharger compliments a mullet rather well. It adds 7-10 "cool" factor points when judging an individual's coolness on the trailer park scale.
