Default headlight/electrical problem-need help

Noticed my headlight was dimming then brightening tonight. I rode in the dark for probably a half hour and it was alternating dim/bright. My battery seems fine and is new this year. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Not yet, but I will in the morning. I was on my way to work when this was happening.

Pull the headlight out and check the plug on the back. It is probably melted and frying the wires. When the connection gets loose it starts to overheat then melt the plastic and then the wires. You can get a new plug at the dealer prewired with shrink seal connectors on the wires!

you didn't say how long the new battery was in place.. if it's fairly new, the connections to it may have worked loose..

next step would be as howgdoc suggests

does your volt meter show proper voltage?.. 14.5 while riding?
