Default Beach to Apes (Roadking)

After checking out the different ape setups my bro's were running I finally decided to change out my beach bars for a set of WO's 16" apes. Like everyone mentioned in the past postings the increased comfort level made it worthwhile. I thought I'd share finished look.

Cheers!

Sweet. How tall are you? I've been thinking about going with 14"s but 16"s seem more popular.

txfxstrider,
I'm 6' tall. I needed to have them pushed away from me so I wouldn't feel to cramped up. This unfortunately meant no windshield. I tried positioning the bars with the windshield on but it was too cramped for me. You may want to consider that trade off. I'm spoiled riding with full windshields or fairings and riding 80-90mph spread eagle wears you out after awhile. If it becomes too much I may re-adjust the bars for a windshield, switch out to another seat that will set me back further. Well see.

Cheers!

I hear vya. I am 6'1", and put 18" barson my rk custom. I have them pushed forward, as well. I was able to pull the bars back enough to use the shield during the winter, but now that summer is here, I pushed them back forward, and removed the shield. One thing that you may consider is to trim the shield. You cancut a couple of notches in the shield that would allow for it to be mounted, with the bars pushed forward. A couple of guys have done it on this forum, and it doesn't look that bad....

Looks good! I went from a set of wide beach bars to a set of apes and never looked back. For me the apes are more comfortable.
