Default Rider backrest on FLHRS -- removal

I recently got an '04 Road King Custom that had a rider's backrest installed. I like the backrest and plan to keep it, but I need to take it off to remove the seat and access the battery. I know the rider backrest is supposed to have a quick release but I haven't found it. I obviously don't have the instruction sheet that would have come with the backrest.

It's probably simple and obvious, but I plea for mercy due to a wasted youth during the 60's...

Reach into the slot in the seat, grab the backrest mount & *SQUEEZE*! It's a bit of a PITA, but you squeeze the mount together & wiggle it up out of the bracket. Goes back in the same way.

If it's a adjustable backrest, the release is at the rear of the bracket. You need to push thebackrest forward, and then reach in andpush therelease towards the rear of the bike while removing the backrest. I'd bet your local dealer will assisit you if needed.

Thanks, guys. The one I have is the non-adjustable w/o the cable or handle. I think Jinks nailed it--I'll check when I get back home.
