Default Found Problem, Now What? - Vibration Around 2500 RPM

I get a vibration when the engine hits around 2500 RPMs.

I notice the vibration most in the footboards and grips.

The bike does not even need to be moving for the problem to show.

The engine just needs to hit 2400-2500 RPMs.

Before and after that RPM range, there is no problem.

I did a search and read several posts on similar problems, but most were older.

If anyone has had this type of problem or could suggest some things to look at, I would greatly appreciate it.

Exhaust system is a good place to start, make sure everything is tightened to specs.

Have you checked the torque on your engine mounts ?

I saw a post of the same problem on another forum....same pipes and exhaust.....problem was with the bracket which mounts the right pipe to the frame near the clutch cover...seems the bracket from the V & H system needs a small spacer to set the bracket OUT in order to align the pipe so it will not put a load on the bracket...Both posters said they found the bracket broken at the tranny bolt and when welded and spacer added to align everything properly... NO VIBRATION....Seems without the spacer (washer. ect) the bracket is about 1/4 In from the tranny...so tightening the bracket puts a tension onit and when it breaks....it transmits the vibes to the frame and the floarboards.....

Hope it helps........

Thank you Nick.

That is a possibility.

I had issues with that bracket when I first installed the pipes.

The washers did not set flat because of the 90 degree angle in the bracket.

This actually caused a transmission fluid leak since it used a couple of the transmission bolts to secure the bracket.

I appreciate the input.

The vibration is not that bad, but it's new and just bugs me.

Hopefully you checked that actual engine mount itself. I have a 2006 and the mount was junk. It caused the same vibration your taking about. The new mounts have a washer over them so that it keep the oil off of the rubber mount so hopefully it will not wear out as fast.

I had a vibration that was about the same as yours........all I did was top-off the tranny fluid and it went away.
