Chubby's 518s

&nbsp\\;Got the carburator cleaned out on my 97 Road King today and took it out for the first time this year. I currently have a set of Heritage Classic handlebars on it, which are very comfortable, but don't seem to have as much control on cornering as the stock bars did\\\\\\; anyway, I ordered a set of the Chubby's 518s and holding them up against the Heritage bars, hoping I made the right decision and they'll give me the control, comfort and pull back I'm looking for. There are a lot of riders on this forum who have and highly recommend the 518s, so maybe I'm just getting cold feet before the install.

Put them on... you are going to love them. I have 518's on my Road King and wouldn't have anything else. Run your wires internally for the clean look.

JGroves,
&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; Thanks for the post, makes me feel a little more at ease about the install\\; as much research as I've done on this forum for the most desired Road King handlebars, Chubby's 518s was at the top of the list.

RE: Chubby's 518s

I agree on the 518s. I have an 05 RK Classic and just installed them 2 weeks ago. At first i was a little skeptical as they felt&nbsp\\;very different&nbsp\\;from the stock bars. After a couple of hundred miles I think they were a great choice. My neck and shoulders feel much better. I used to have my right hand get numb on longer rides and thet seems to be gone. I also fee that since adjusting to them the handling is much sharper.

RE: Chubby's 518s

&nbsp\\; JC,
&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;Thanks for the reply on the 518s\\; mechanic told me he could install them with stock cables to see how I liked them before making them permanent. If I decide to go with s.s. braided cables, he said stock size would probably work. Did anyone have to change the length of their cables to do the 518 install? Appreciate all of the info.
