Timkin Conversion?

What is it, what does it do better and why would it be helpful?

Well I had a nice long reply but yet again it was too long and disappeared[:@]The timken conversion does away with the crank roller bearing which is the weak link especially with high horsepower engines.

You have to split the cases and have it bored to fit the Timken bearing in place of the roller bearing.&nbsp\\; Most get this done when the have the cases apart for crank truing, etc.

If yer bike's running OK now, maybe you should just leave it as-is.

Just my opinion.

RE: Timkin Conversion?

Unless you have a high horsepower beast it is a VERY expensive mod. I would never consider it just for insurance due to the cost. But if you have to have the engine completely apart anyway might as well do it. FWIW all the 08 bikes have the heavier CVO 110 bearings anyway so that should help some. Later.
