I already have a quick detachable passenger backrest/chrome luggage rack for my 03RK. If I pick up a leather tour pack that already has the quick detach kit on it is that going to work with my existing quick detach hardware on the bike? From photos it looks like it should but I'm wondering if I need to add another quick detach hardware kit to the bike.

I've thought that another quick disconnect mount point had to be installed. I've had the same plan but have not pulled the trigger yet. I'm sure the dealer parts guy could tell you.

 

there are at least 2 different sets different for backrest and tour pack it depends on wich one u already have .

 

If the luggage rack attaches to the passenger backrest/sissybar, you will need to add mounting hardware for the detachable tour pak since what you have on the bike now doesn't work with the detachable tp rack. You would need HD part no. 53804-06 for the detachable tp rack. Take a look at page 389 of the '09 parts & accessory catalog.
