Default Road Glide fork oil change.

I have done a search and only find info on air forks or '05 earlier forks.
Is there an easy way to change the the fork oil on a '06 Road Glide?
Does it have to be per the manual?
Do you have to have a spring compressor tool?
Do you have to replace parts like the manual says?
Are the forks on an '06 conventional or cartridge?
&nbsp\\;
Looks like a can of worms to do this !!!

06 forks are conventional. Pretty simple to change really. Couple of ways to do it also. You can suck it out and suck it back in with a mity vac if ya got one, or you can just take out the screws and let drain completely and remove the top caps and pour new in, changing out the top seal with new ones prior to putting the caps back on and putting new drain screws in. Gotta remove some stuff to gain access to the top caps, but that's easy too.

Thank you Dawg.I have a service manual and looked at it.They make it an overkill just to change the fluid if you follow the instructions.!Sounds pretty simple the way you suggested.

If your changing the fork oil, upgrade to the Heavy Duty Screamin Eagle or Amsoil.&nbsp\\; You will get a greater feel to the front end, without the front end dip on braking.&nbsp\\; It also makes the bike feel more stabile on hard cornering.&nbsp\\; You will still get some dip, but not like before.

IMHO...

Smile Change the Fork Oil Road Glide

I just checked with my local HD dealer. ABC Harley in Waterford Mi.. The complete job for my 2001 Road Glide would be $120 to $125.00 I think I'll letl them do it. That way I'll know it was done right.

The only way to know it is done right is to do it yourself. There are some good service departments out there but they are few and far between...

Agreed, just cause you paid doesn't mean they did it right..

If your bike bottoms out on the front some use 20weight oil and add a half ounce extra fluid, if it bottoms out frequently add just under an extra ounce of fluid.
