Rear tire labor time?

RE: Rear tire labor time?
I am not a good wrench at all, but I have removed and reinstalled both the front and rear wheels on my Road King. No problem at all. I use my Pit bull bike lift and a shop floor jack to support and lower the wheels. The indy I go to only charges $55.00 per hour if he removes the wheels and he estimates 1 1/2 hours for both wheels, if he does it. He can mount a new tire and balance the wheel in less than 30 minutes, and my tires require tubes. \\; \\; \\; Halfbreed

RE: Rear tire labor time?
$65 bucks is plenty high enough for a rear tire change @ 1 hour of labor - in any part of the country. If they say they have to use the whole hour - or longer - I'd go elsewhere, cuz they have no idea what they're doing.
If you're buying the tire from the servicing shop - then $40 ontop of the cost of the tire is a good deal. They're making enough to pay their mechanic, shop costs and make a nice profit . . .

How do you know what these indy's need to make, to make a profit?
Different regions of the country have different costs to run a business.

I'm in dinky Knoxville, TN...my indy marks tires up $30 bucks.
I venture to say an indy in say, NY...couldn't do that because their operating expenses have to be higher.

I have a awesome dealer in Union City, TN. They are fair and good! Guys, has the phrase ( peace of mind ) ever hit? Cost of ownership here....sure you don't want to be raped...but shop around...I like peace of mind knowing it was done by the Harley wrenches and done correct! My 2 cents.....
