Push Button Fuel Door for 08
Today I installed the "new" HD push button fuel door on my 08 UC.
Part number is 53842-00C.
This is a lockable type, has a different mounting hinge then stock, and does pop the fuel door at least an inch or so.
The push button is about the same size as the stock lock and does require a good push to clear the catch...repeated use may ease operation.
Installation took about three minutes...

Yeah this is waht Im tryin to figure out pg 486 of the 08 Parts Book says that the part #53842-00B fits only 92-07 Electra Glide and you say its part #53842-00B do you have the wrong part# and if not how did you get the 07 one to fit an 08 I tried didnt work on the 07 Gas Cap there are two rubber bumpers and you pull one out remove the bolt put in the spring hinge piece! on the 08 theer are two rubber bumpers in the cap but when you pull one out there is no bolt to holed in the spring! What gives Id like to see pictures the dealer even says the one in the book wont fit and I tried it on my 08 DUH!!!!! \\;This is why yours is hard to lock and unlock there is no spring to force the cap to pop open!!!!\\;

The instruction sheet identifies it as p/n 10334 and is used on the '08 models only.

If it was for the 08 the part number would end in 08. The whole console on the 08's is different. The earlier part is not meant to work with the 08 but some have modded to get it to work. Unless they just made a revision instead of making a whole new part.
And funny I was just looking at that part number and it says 97 or later. Hmmmmmm. Must be a revision.
