It is amazing how people hear bull&\\\\\\;^&\\\\\\;* on the forum and believe it \\\\\\; as fact , I have never had any wobble or heard of any ,just on here.
I dont own a Touring Bike so I can not confirm the existence of wobble or no wobble. However, I have a real nice book called The Ultimate Harley-Davidson which gives a fairly thorough account of H-D history. They give great praise to the Road King but also note: The Road King is happiest when it is ambling along at a disdainful 75mph - if you travel much above 85mph, a disconcerting weave has sometimes been known to intrude. To be king of the road the Milwaukee way, you dont need to be the fastest - just the coolest

From this I gather that the notion of wobble did not originate on this forum but has been experienced by some riders for awhile.

I still want one!

Get the current issue (Sept) of American Iron and read about the frame history. Very informative.

Article says Softails redesigned in 2000, Sportster in 2004, Dynas in 2006. Current touring frame designed nearly 30 years ago with the shovelheads, according to article.

Last frame change on touring was 97 when they moved the battery under the seat.

My cousins 94 road King has the battery under the seat.
My 05 Road King Classic.... no wobble.

Regarding wobbling and slipping
&nbsp\\;
My '99 FLHT wobbled and got into a nice almost tank slapper when my front tire had lost some air. I had rear tire slide only when my tire was mostly worn out.
&nbsp\\;
My '05 FLHT wobbled through the big sweeping mountain curves of KY (uh, the state) with turbulence from trucks and a good rate of speed.
&nbsp\\;
These were some exceptions to an otherwise stable, but not tight, ride on the HOGs.

This is what I understand also. It has been 30 years sinse any major change in the touring frame. I went by Fraizers HD and saw a 09 EGS. The rear end looks great. I bet the SG and RG look outstanding. The improvements are very good I really want to ride an 09. I bet the changes are significantly better. &nbsp\\; &nbsp\\;

The first year for the "old" frame was 1980, on the flht. They have updated it several times. Alot of people don't know it, but the 2007 frame was re-done using thicker tubing, it is stronger than the 2006 frame, the 2008 frame used the same thick tubing, just changed to make room for the tank and abs changes.
&nbsp\\;
I have never had a problem with the "old" frame, maybe that is why they kept it so long. I do think the 09 frame is better, but designed for upcoming motor changes.

The last (Major) change was in 1980 when the FLT first came out. They've only enhanced it since (up until 09)
The last (Major) change before that was in 1958 when thet added rear shocks.

Added note\\;
Originally, the concept was that "Nova" project. That was the orig intent (way back then) to have the liquid cooled Porsche motor in that 1980 FLT frame. That deal went sideways and they put the Shovelhead motor in it. There has been concept bikes since the 70's.
