I have had my stereo looked at several times on my 06 Ultra. I will burn over 100 songs but it will only play about 50. I have played the same MP3 in my truck and it played all of the songs.
Tried this with an audio CD and coudn't get more than "normal". Windows media HELP says you need to burn files to a "data CD" to get more capacity. Anyone know what that means or how to do it? Thanks.
Has anyone had any luck organizing your MP3's into folders before burning them onto CD. Another member reported doing it successfully, but he never responded as to what software he used or how he did it. I would like to put individual albums into folders so I can sort through them and play them when I want. Other members reported that the HK stereo didn't recognize the folders.
You can sort them as you wish on the CD, into folders or not, but when played on the HK head unit it just seamlessly goes from one folder to another without break or fanfare. If you have an album in one folder, I don't know of a way to, say, repeat the album or otherwise select the order the music is played other than selecting "Random."

I've split-up CD's into folders, one disk for example hits separated by decade, and it seamlessly played one song at a time going from one folder to another. You don't need special software, as these are files like those on your computer, and you can copy existing MP3's from one folder on your hard drive to others on the CD using Windows Explorer, etc.
If you are transferring from CD media and saving to MP3 (ripping), you'll need to use special software like Nero or Windows Media Player (v10 or above, I think).
I understand what you are saying Iclick. I guess what I'm asking is...Can I place different albums into their own folder, then select which folder to play. In other words, if I put a Pearl Jam album in one folder, Metallica in another, and Audioslave in a third, can I select the Audioslave to play in it's entirety or do all the songs on the CD show up in the order they are on the disc? What shows up on the display? The folder then the song, or just the song.

You can put the albums in different folders but you can't pick which folder/album you want to hear. It starts at the first folder burnt and works its way through each folder until it reaches the end of the CD.
What I do is mark on the CD with a sharpie what number of song starts each album. i.e. 1-13 Pearl Jam, 14-26 Metallica, 27-38 Audioslave. Then, if it burnt them in that order and I wanted to listen to the Metallica CD all I would have to do is forward to song 14 and I would be in the Metallica folder.
I recently got a Garmin Zumo and it plays MPS also but sorts by artist, album, genre, and other ways. It will recognize up to 1,000 songs if your memory card is large enough. I don't play CD's anymore since I have gotten this. I think I like the MP3 function better than the GPS side, lol. should have just bought an IPOD, LOL.
Caution to those who burn .mp3 cds. Make sure you burn them at a slow burn rate. I've found the HK system has some issues with a faster/lighter burn. Also, keep those CD clean. On 2 .mp3 CDs I've had issues with the slightest fingerprint causing hangs when playing certain songs.
Otherwise, I've got 3 .mp3 cds each with roughly 100 songs. Great way to get music to your head unit, and it will show song title and artist if the information was burned correctly.
for ripping your own(or borrowed)cds to mp3s, i recommend exact audio copy. it is a free program and can be configured to make a virtually exact copy of your cd in mp3 format, or you can lower the bit rate, and get more songs on the cd

My experience is that the player is blind to the folders and plays songs as they appear on the disk.

I haven't had problems burning at full-blast (48x) for CD's, although I tend to burn at a lower speed if I think about it. I usually burn DVD's at least two steps lower than max, however, and think it's a good idea throttling down on burn speed as a rule whether for CD's or DVD's.
...and it will show song title and artist if the information was burned correctly.
It might be worth mentioning that you can change this displayed info by right-clicking on the file, select Properties, Summary, and then Advanced. At that point you can change Artist and Title, which are the two items that show up on the player display. I've had many (most) MP3's that show wrong info or no info for this data. If you have a lot of files to change you can use a third-party program like Eags On! (freeware) from www.tucows.com or www.snapfiles.com, which is quicker.
