When there is no place for a passenger to sit,why is everyone leaving the floorboards on ?

Well I do have the matching mustang passenger pillion which takes me about 2 mins to install (litteraly) and it is also sitting inside my left saddle bag

I wish I could install mine that fast and carry it that easily.

That would make a difference to me in whether I left the boards on or not.
