Default Redline 20W-60W Oil inTwin-Cam 88

Has anyone run the Redline 20W-60W Oil in a twin cam? I don't want to be the guinea pig with my 06 Ultra and no one around here has tried it that I have talked to. If anyone has run this in your motor for a time, what are your comments?
Thanks
Bear

Running RedLine in 3 holes. But not the 60. As I understand it the 60 is more for a heavy duty application or race. Not that it means much, but if you lived in a hotter region, I'd say go for it in a heart beat.

I run the 20W60HD in my 97 & 03 FLSTS, the MTL in the primary, and the 75W90 gear lube in the tranny. No issues.

Well, I am not in the hotest region (Colorado) so maybe I should just stick to Syn3

I live in TN and ran the 20-60 for the last 3 oil changes and then went back to the Mobil-1 20-50 and wish I had gone w/the Redline again. As far as the other holes go - the MTL in the primary is fine but I will never put anything but the Heavy Duty Shockproof in my tranny (otherwise known as pink goo). That stuff is great.

I live just outside Calgary, Alberta. Your weather is comparable to mine, albeit slightly better overall.

I am also running Red-Line in all three holes on both of my bikes now. I switched the SG over to all synthetic last weekend. I have noticed a reduction in actual oil temps as indicated by my new oil temp gauge that replaced the ambient temp gauge.
In the engine I am running the Red-Line 20/50, and it covers about the entire temp range that I will be riding in. I still drop the engine oil at 2500 and trans & primary every 5K.

Anyhow back to your question......I dont know of anyone running 20W-60W in their TC88. What I would like to know is why you want to go with such a heavy weight oil???

Yea but just because the local dealer is selling it, you dont have to buy it. My local dealer sells HD Syn-3.....but I still use the Red-Line 20/50.

This info is from the Red-Line web site: re.the 20/60

Specifically blended for air-cooled V-Twin engines with traditionally wide clearances like Knuckleheads, Shovelheads, and Panheads engines. Also compatible with V-twins operated in hot climates.

Default Thanks for the research

I will call around to the private shops and see if I can find the 20/50. I still think Redline Rocks!
