I have the grinding/whirring noise from my 06 Road King (103 kit dealer installed) and I can't find out where it is coming from. This weekend I pulled the primary and re-torqued the compensator, checked the tensioner, and clutch. Put all new gaskets on it and took it out for a spin. When I got all warmed up I was cruising along in 5th and down shifted, it was still there. It sounds just like the nut hitting the primary case but its fine. I was thinking some kind of exhaust cover thing but I checked and its missing one clamp that I will replace.
If anyone has an ideas please let me know, thanks.
Just an update, took the bike in because it was driving me nuts. Turns out that the VH true duals have a baffle that gets loose after about 7K... repacked it and its all done...
I was going to say, that on a stock exhaust, the hanger bracket under the seat for the Y pipe has a nut on it. Mine has came off twice. When it does, it makes that kind of sound. Took me a while the first time to find it. When I did the pipe was cracked also.
