Advice needed: I have a 2018 Road King Special and I recently purchased new handlebars with 13" rise (see link below) and I'm wondering if I'll have to extend the wires. I've read every page of this thread and the stock cables are fine, but everything I've seen people with 12" bars say the wires were fine and people with 14" bars say they extended the wires. I know people are just going to say "extend them. better safe than sorry" and I agree, but I'm just looking for facts.

Second thing: are the turn signal harnesses separate from the switch housing harnesses? or are they the same?

I'm looking forward to getting these on. I had a hell of a time trying to pick out which bars I really wanted as I was pretty specific about what I wanted. Had to be 1.5" diameter, didn't want to go much higher than 12" rise, and had to be smooth apes (not a big fan of meathook style). Fortunately I found these and as far as I can tell, nobody in this thread seems to be running these, or even many people running 1.5" bars. Unfortunately though, they don't step back down to 1.25" in the clamping area, so I also have a new clamp to install at the same time. I'll hopefully get these on this weekend and I'll update with pics when done

2015 FLHR with 16" X 1-1/2" diameter Monster Apes. I absolutely love the bars.

As far as I’ve been able to tell, these are L.A. Choppers ‘Nice Curves’ apes, in either 12” or 14”, depending on where I measure. They came with the bike, but are the perfect height for me. I’m 6ft 1in and they put my hands just under my shoulders st a very comfortable angle, especially with the windshield installed.

I have been looking for perfect Road King handlebars for ages and finally found these - T17 from german manufacturer V-Team. Specs are similar to WO518 but with smooth bends and a bit more pullback or you could say similar to WO550 with a bit more rise.

The only CON is they are made out of stainless steel and I had to get them chromed (it was quite an adventure to find a place that can chromeplate SS, but totally worth it).

As cool as I think these bars are, I’m really considering exchanging them for a set of RK II/beach bar style.

Stock bars on my '07. Maybe one day narrow beaches, or Mentele.

BTW it's wheelBARROW, not "barrel".

I tried the Heritage bars on my '05 Road King but they weren't quite high enough (about 9 1/2", I think). I did like the hand position with them and then I found the Stretched Heritage Bars (13-14" high). These have been very comfortable.
