I got rid of mine first thing. This was my first one in 40 + years of riding, something about it just wasn't right with me.

got rid of mine on my last bike 05 rkc but the one on my new bike seems to work out alright plus i don't get that little black mark on the top of my left boot. i guess it's up to the person riding it but like the others have stated there are other options.kuryakyn makes a spline cover as well.

I thought I saw a sticky on that rear shifter somewhere around here. I'm looking in Lowe's for a rubber bumper about 1/2" thick that I can bolt through the hole in the rear shifter so my foot can slide in along side and use the whole floorboard. I should be able to shift it easily with the side of my heel. Make sure you use a heat gun when removing (unscrewing) the old rubber peg. I think it's got some thread sealant on it. Heat makes it easier to remove (no torch!) I would recommend doing it off the bike.

I must be a natural HEEL, cause when I got my first bagger way back in 85 it took me all of about 2 minutes too fall in love with the shifter! Had 4 since then and still like them. What ever it takes to make ya happy works for me. Carry on gentlemen !

Ok, seems that everyone is removing their heel shifter. Mine fell off yesterday somewhere on the way back to NC from Daytona.
Would anyone like to get rid of that useless heel shifter, if so I would be gracious and take it off your hands. Let me know....

I love mine and like will2002, it didn't take me long to get used to it. I aslo moved my footboards out for more room.

juat a guick tip after u ditch the heel shifter adjust the toe shifter as low as u can and still get your boot under it so u dont have to lift so high. and throw the heel shifter in one of the bags for backup if u ever loose the toe shifter out on the road

Always kept both and used both to upshift. Depends on which boots I'm wearing. One pair of boots is bigger (thicker)than the other one and wont go under the toe shifter. I've tried rising the toe shifter but when wearing my other boots, I had to raise it higher to downshift wich made it uncomfortable. Got used to it. It now comes naturally.
