Question for those that have had their front 407 replaced under warranty
I have read on here about the problems with the D407 that is on the front of the 2009's. I have noticed lately that my front tire is starting to scallop and I'm getting a good amount of vibration from the front end. reading the posts on here about Harley covering the front tire I brought the bike to the dealership to get the tire covered. I was told that it's not really covered, that the warranty is prorated so depending on the tread left I'll pay for part of the tire and Harley will pay for part of it. Does that sound right? Maybe I missed it but I haven't read on here where anyone was being charged for the replacement. I do have 7700 miles on it but I've read of a couple with 10,000+ and haven't seen where they were charged. Any advice would be welcome.

It depends on the remaining tread depth according to Service bulletin. Dawg posted bulletin below link.

I had around 5500 on my SG when it was replaced just a few weeks ago. The dealership thought I said I had over 10,000 on the bike and it they may not replace it. When I told them 5500 then it was no problem and no charge.
I would suggest you take your bike to the dealer ASAP and see what they say. Also mention that you feel that the tire cupping is a safety concern and that you have been feeling some movement in the front end when cornering.
If no luck with them then try another dealer.

Mine was replaced last week with 15,700 miles on it. No charge for tire or labor to install it. I was told it had to have an average tread depth of 3/32" to qualify for totally free replacement. My tire was cupped bad, but met the 3/32" requirement. That tire was the only complaint I had with the bike. My dealership, F&S in Dayton, Ohio contacted me as soon as the Bulletin was issued.

Thanks guys. My tire is barely showing any signs of cupping. What prompted me to look through here was I started getting a bunch of vibration at highway speeds and it didn't feel as stable in the corners. I'll have to measure the depth before I bring it in just to make sure they don't try to hose me.
