Just got a 09 RG. This may have been discussed, but I can not figure out how to search for it. I noticed that water can get under the headlight clear cover. I figure that dirt can get it there also, and eventually build up and make it less clear, and block some of the light coming from the headlights. I want as much light as possible, for visibility. Can the clear plastic cover be popped off for cleaning, or does the front fairing have to come off to get to it? I have a service manual, but there is nothing in it about the cover removal.

New 09 RG 266 miles so far, but winter here in OHIO
Like was said on the forum there are 4 tabs in the corners of the the plactic cover jsut slide a small flat head screw driver with a rag on it so as not to scratch and pop the top or bottem ones carefully and it comes right off. As for mine it is gone and I put the 09 Screaming Eagle cover on it because I like the look better. The plastic cover looks to goofy and I never liked it so I am glad they came out with it and yes it will pop in just like the clear cover does if you so choose to go with it.
Congrats!! Was it a hard decision to trade down from the SE model to standard FLTR? That was a nice bike you had there but the improvements and pleasure of the 09 will help make up for it I feel.
With this trade I've given up a lot of bling and a motor that's got a lot extra in it. But the plus of the taller gearing and
the bigger gas tank and clean looks helped with the decision. So much is different that I don't know what to point to
as the source of the superior handling of the 09.
There are some sweeeeet A$$ rides in this thread. I was told when I went to test drive mine that If I liked it at all I would never ride anything else, they were right. Just sent off my sundowner to Mean City Cycles, ordered a tour pack from Zanotti's,added the XM,the hitch and bought a trailer. You guessed it,gearing up for some looooong trips this spring. First to Niagara Falls and take the long way home. Also,I have a really great embroidery shop here where I live and I too am thinking about a Road Glide patch. I have looked everywhere and I can't find so much as a pin. Guess I'll make my own.
My 05 first harley been grinning ever since the first ride
95 kit
crome front end and lowered
21"front rim
18" rear and also lowered
klock wind sheild
true duals
painted inner fairing
and some other things
I ride a EG now but when my wife take over this bike I am strongly considering a RG. I love my Batwing but also like the Sharknose. It has its own classic look.
