just a little while ago an old man turned left in front of me and i hit him broad sided. i was looking right at him and new he was going to pull out so i slowed down and he did , i went hard on the brakes back tire locked up so i had to stay on it to keep from high siding. lifted my leg and bam over the car i went landed hard on my left rib cage, im just brused up abit. But im still here to talk about it Im mad as hell about the wreck he did'nt even know i was there. thanks for letting me vent...
Glad you are able to tell us this. Hate it for you and of course the bike. It can be fixed. You are going to be sore for a few days, so take it easy. Let us know how you fairing and let us know about the bike.
Way back, the Hurt report stated that the left hander in front of the bike was the number one cause of two vehicle accidents involving a motorcycle. You just added to their statistics.
Cover your brakes and clutch, anticipate that they will turn, and look for your escape route. A swerve behind the car (press left, press right to swerve around behind it) as it turns left in front of you will often (not always) save your hide.
Glad to hear you lived through it. Do yourself a favor and take an MSF safety course and learn how to brake correctly and to drive defensively. If you saw him and expected him to pull out, you shouldn't have hit him, Sorry but thats the truth. Taking a safety course at least every two years will help prevent these situations.

Ride safe Bro and save that new bike!
That's a +10 post ! Swerving is taught in the basic class, and is as important as knowing how to properly brake !
At the end of each course (I used to teach MSF) I would ask the question, "Knowing that the number one situation for an accident is a left hand turner in front of you, whose fault is it when it happens? Legally, it's the other guys fault. But who could have prevented it?"
Knowlege is safety on the street. They really don't mean to kill us, we have to look out for them!
