I had already changed my gauges from yellow to red, so needed to do something. I watched all the vids on YouTube on opening up the tach and speedo, plus all the ones I could find on soldering the million led's. When all was said and done, I spent $85 with Marty at gaugeledmods.com and am happy.

After reading through all the modifications (and doing quite a few of them lol) decided to do the leds in the tac/speedo. Ordered from superbrite leds for the 4 smaller gauges and sent the speed/tac to GaugeModZ in michigan. The funny thing is, he's only about an hour away from where we used to live lol Could have had them done years ago and it would've been much easier and maybe even had a beer together.

This little piece of info sure helped me out to complete this project. I had gotten everything apart, the LEDs swapped, and really hadn't looked into how to seal the chrome ring back up. Using a CD and plyers worked perfect! Old posts do have value sometimes.

I would like to see them. Better yet has anyone already taken on this task. I know I can solder the LED's myself, looking to save some money, but get that custom look. THANKS
I've done it on 2001, 2004, 2006, and 2018 but '09 is a different generation. 2007-12 should all be relatively the same, and anything 2004 to current should use the same SMD's but I dont have a pic of the board type for yours.

If you look on the Iron Cross audio website there is a link for Gaugemodz. Apparently he works with ICA to get the led’s close in color so they match if you change the led on the HK radio.
