Default Tire Size For 18 Inch Wheels On a 03 Road King

I am looking for advise on useing an 18 wheel on an 03 Road King.

Would you run a 130/70-18 or 140/70-18 on a 18x3.5 on the front?

Would you run a 140/70-18 on a 18x3.5 or a 150/70-18 on a 18x4.25 on the rear?

Also, did you use a spacer or if you changed out pully and belt, do you have the part numbers?

Thanks!

I put a 130/70 Metz 880 up front on a 18 x 3.5" wheel. I like the look. I kept a 16" on the rear and went with a 150/80 Metzeler. The rear almost rubs the belt guard.

Your best bet is to contact the vendors of the tire & wheels you are interested in. They gave me all the specs I needed so I didn't have to worry. Cuz, Lord knows I agonized over my decision for weeks! 8-)

I like wider rim for the rear 4.25 you can run a 150 or 160 with no problems

140/70/18 front (I think it fills out the fender better than the the 130) and a 150/70/18 rear. I think when my new rear Metz is gone I'm gonna put a 16" on the rear for a bit more cush.

Default 03 Rear Tire

The problem that we have with the 03 bikes and rear tires is the 1 1/2 " drive belt. A 150 tire will rub, I've seen guys do ALL kinds of stupid stuff (like setting the tire crooked in the swingarm) to make it work, you might use a spacer (Pingle) and cut the belt guard and make it work. I have a 140 Avon on my 03 and have about 1/8" clearance. I am putting a set of 21/18's on now and am struggling with the same issue (Again)!!!! Gary

I had that problem on the rear of the Wife's 01 Road King when I put a set of Street Glide wheels with a MU85/16 tire on it. I had to use the Pingle pulley spacer for belt to tire clearance and had to leave the belt guard off. It has been like that for 2 years without the belt guard..no problems.

Default Can someone please help?

I'm looking to get a straight answer i've been reading about the changing from a stock tire and rim on the rear of a 2003 roadking to a 150 rear tire with a 18x4.25 rim, some say no mods neccesary, some say need spacers or some say take off belt gaurd, or even to having to change belt and pully, can anyone help me here? I am in process of buying a set of pro-one wheels for my bike which sizes are 18x4.25 and a 150 avon venom tire on the rear as well as the 21x3.50 front rim with a 120 avon venom, is there any mods to get this rear tire to fit my 2003 roadking? and would it be best to stay with the 130 0n the front or is it ok to go with the 120 that comes with the front rim. and if any spacers needed can you tell me what size of spacer and where to get one. anyone that has done this to a 03 rk please help or anyone that truely knows, i have talked to pro-one and they are saying it should fit right in maybe taking out the belt gaurd i just need to know if this is correct,Thanks so much. roadkng63

150 will NOT fit without MODS. I have a 2002 RK and having this same convo on a different thread. 140 will fit no mods, rear. I also have the 120 70 21 on front love it and runs and feels fine.
