Good input...I appreciate your replies. Seems like I'm in the range, but it just occurred to me that I should be getting better range than I am on my '08.

Most I've gone to the light is 235 - Much of that expressway, some rural highway, some variable speed limit. Would've been better on straight expressway I'm sure.
I'm around 260# (that makes a difference, I'm sure). Plant is stock except for left muffler - B&E Max 2 (stock right muffler). Noticed a rather impressive increase in mileage with that one tweak (and loved the sound also). |

I get a fairley consistant 38 to 42 MPG. So I use the trip meter and start thinking about fuel at 200 miles. I also carry an extra 10 miles worth of premium in case I decide to stretch it a bit, or in case someone else wasn't thinking.

I have never gotten anything better than low 30's on mine.

Today when I filled up, my mpg worked out to be right around 41. Ironically after filling, I checked remaining miles and it was 246 which dividing 246/6 gals = 41. Wonder if it takes you last tank full mpg average x 6 gallons and that becomes the new remaining mile figure? I'll have to pay attention at the next fill up.

Bear in mind the fuel economy ratings for ANY new vehicle are under extremely optimum conditions and aren't related to real-world driving/riding. You're likely never going to get the claimed fuel economy. |
I have experienced as much as 53 mpg (Boorrriiing....) which should have got me in about the 300 mile range. Only happened once cuz I was stuck with a slow crowd. Normally get around 240 (V&H true duals, Ovals, Techlusion, Doherty) so I'm happy.
Funny thing, I road 7 hours to a friends funeral (not the funny part) in Northern Alberta last fall. It was around freezing most of the ride and I only had the option of regular gas. My mileage was pathetic. I had to fill up 3 times on the way there. Not sure if it was the low octane (crappy gas) or the cold weather. |
I have an 09 FLHTC with 655 miles on it. I just did a 200 mile ride today and got 44 mpg. 2 up and all 2 lanes thru small towns with stop signs.

Depends on how you ride it. I can get 48-50 mpg if I ride a steady 55-60 on cruise. My scoot is box stock but, I can average 42-45 usually. The cruise will help with mileage on a long trip. Bad tire pressure and loaded down will kill your mpg.
