Default ultra cigarette lighter for phone charging

Every time I plug in my phone charger to the cigarette lighter the fuse on the charger blows. The lighter works fine but since I do not smoke I figured I could use the outlet to charge my phone mp3 player or gps but it blows the fuse on the charger everytime. The lighter still works so I am puzzled. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Dave

I use my cigarette lighter plug to power my GPS and have had no problems. I am sure that the GPS is drawing less power then a heating element would. Must be something with your cord maybe?

Strange. I've used the lighter socket for both my GPS and Phone without ever having a problem.

I use mine as well for my GPS, no problem except sometimes when I'm driving it rattles loose...

Is the cable going into the adapter pinched or anything maybe causing it to short out?

Is it possible someone switched the pigtail leads on the socket?
+to- and -to+?

I use mine for the GPS also but it keeps vibrating out of the socket and breaks the connection. I've tried to "tighten" the plug but it still comes out a lot.

Does the charger work in any other vehicle? I'm going with the others on a faulty charger/cable.
