I'm not out for every last HP and Torque number I can get. What I'm looking for is a smooth torque curve and around 80 ft/lbs, and a good HP rating around 75 hp.
The true duals have a notorious history of losing low-end torque, and I'm looking for info and dyno sheets on the new '06 Rineharts to see if they fixed that problem.
The Thunderheader 2-1 has a history of a dip in the torque around 2500 rpm.......but that is fixable with a simple baffle mod. I have done this baffle mod, and the power is smooth from bottom to top. My next step is a dyno run/tune to see how it looks.
I love the Thunderheader 2-1 for sound/performance. But I still prefer 2 mufflers when looking at the rear of a bagger, and if the Rineharts are "fixed" then that might be the direction I head in.
If you have the bike running the way you like it, the sound is good, and all you're after is a 2nd muffler for looks..... then Rich makes a "falsee" Thunderheader for that exact purpose. It would be a bunch cheaper than getting a new exhaust system and then needing dyno time, and still wondering it it's really gonna run the way you like it.
Additionally, I think the Thunderheader falsee is also a storage container... Seems like it was the THunderheader that was that way.
I've thought about doing that, but I'm not buying a whole new exhaust. If I can buy the falsee parts and "make" it work, then I might do it.
Steve
I was also looking for a exhaust system that sounded like the 2 into 1 Thunder Header but still wanted the dual exhaust look on my Road King. Didn't like the idea of the falsy Thunder Header so I went with there fairly new True Dual Thunder so hopefully get that same Thunder Header sound.
I really don't think a falsee is the way to go for me............just wasted weight for nothing at all.
I'll get a set of Rineharts, put them on and try them out. If I like the sound and performance ..........then I'll keep them. If not, I'll just sell them and stick with the tried and true Thunderheader.
