I have only had my Ultra for a couple of weeks (1000 miles) and have noticed that the rear latch seems to need me to apply a little pressure to the lid for it to latch. This is happening with nothing in or on the tour pak.
Check the screws on the inside of the latch that attach it to the tour pack. A buddy was having problems with his saddle bag latch popping open, turned out it was the screw that holds it onto the bag...check all the mounting hardware.

DANG! That's what I was gonna suggest! Also, does your wife ride with you ALL the time? The reason I asked is that I noticed that when my wife rides on the back of my Ultra and she reclines on the tour pack that the lid tweaks just a little from the pressure. My latches have been tightend since she last rode so I have no idea if it will still do it, but before she rode back there I didn't have loose latches. Something to ponder.
Thanks for the advice. I will check the latch screws, and see if one of them is loose. I'll do some testing, too, to see if my wife leaning back on the backrest is having any effect. I'll let you all know what I find out.
