change battery every spring, and put new battery in the saddlebag. Never had a problem marrying it just put in and go. Its a common battery that can be bought at a lot of places. Learn the over ride code helped me out more then once.

If you have a smart phone, take a picture of the numbers and proceedure to start the bike if your fob dies. It's always with you then.

My Duece is 10 years old and I don't remember ever replacing the FOB battery.

I'll replace it when it quits.

Can't vouch for the i-Phone...don't wanna drink their kool-aid....but all you Android users out there. The Google Play store has an app called "V-Twin Reference" that will give you step by step instructions for manually bypassing the security when your fob dies. No more having to "remember" the steps!! Its a free app and it also has a lot of other useful information in it as well.

Mobil Speed Pass equipped pumps interfere with the FOB.

Just push the bike a foot or 2 foward and ALL GOOD.

I change the fob batteries every year, on Jan. 1st. Same as the smoke alarm batteries in the house.

I keep a two pack of new batteries in the saddlebag all the time.

When January 1st gets here I use the spares from the saddlebag and replace the spares with a new set.

This way I always have fresh batteries in the fobs and also extra fresh batteries for myself or a fellow rider if needed. Its really cheap insurance to prevent an inconveinent situation.

Owners manual says once a year. But who ever reads a manual to have knowledge about their machine?

I went 5 years with mine. I'm shooting for 4.5 years on the current battery. The 2032 is a very common battery. It is used in all PC's as the cmos battery.

Even minimarts have them.

I do keep one handy on the bike.
