Default Road Glide

I rented a RG while on vacation in AZ a few weeks back for a day of riding. My question is do all you guys on RG's feel like you have your head in a paint shaker above 50 mph?? I really liked the bike for the low speed stability, unique looks, ergonomics of the seat to bars and lowered stance, also the feel behind the Shark Nose the way the gages are out in front of you. Under 50mph and above 90mph it was a great ride, between those speeds I experienced a nasty buffeting that I couldn't get away from sticking my head way up over the windshield or laying down under it. As far as I could tell the bike was all stock.

I have somone interested in my 96 and am leaning to a 05 or newer Ultra but the RG is calling me. If there is a soloution to the buffeting I would be happy to own one. I would still want lowers and a King Tour Pack.

I have not noticed that either, however, I have a Mustang seat (that is lower than stock) and WideGlide bars on mine. Undoubtedly, I sit in a much different position than I would on a stock bike. Also, my hands and wrists have never gone to sleep after getting rid if the aweful stock handle bars....

Yes, I'm 6'3 and I have the same problem. anew seat and ot windshield will be on the way,
in the future. I don't like the ride of the ultra at all. I may even get the wide-glide bars. Other than that, the best bagger I ever rode.

Hey, isn't there that lower wind blocker?
Not the fork things, but something that goes below the fairing that stops this? Black piece of plastic about $20?

I remember someone saying that they had no idea why they stopped making it a stock part a few years back.

I'd bet one of those cee-baileys windshields would help as well. Its got a small flip at the top that should help with the buffeting.

I have an '06 RG, I understand what your saying. I wouldnt think it so "extreme" as having your head in a paint shaker but I guess you could call if slight wind "buffeting" . I belong to a Roadglide forum (delphi group) and I found out there is an aftermarket upgrade, and REASONABLY priced windshield from Clearview. www.clearview.com They are available 1" over, 2" and 3" and have a "euro flare" at the top which TOTALLY eliminates the buffeting effect. They are slightly wider than stock also, and have an optional vent kit. The ones that have swapped out their stock glass for the clearview windshield offer rave reviews.

It's in the Harley catalog somewhere, can't find it. It is steel and also comes in chrome. I believe they stopped putting them on EG's. But this is not gonna help him as it's stock on RG. A different windshield is what you require. Or another model H-D...
