The ebay seller is Iron Cross Audio. Great service on my recently repaired HK head unit. Tony Simmonelli is ICA's service manager. Here's a link with the contact information:

Highly recommend ICA for any HK service they offer. Tony and the techs there are all former HK repair/service department employees who lost their jobs when HK shut down the in-house service operation and farmed it out to a third party (whose employees Tony trained).

What colors would be the most desirable??
Blue, since I have changed the bulbs on gauges to blue led.

Blue would be really cool, I had a Kenwood head unit in my Tahoe that you could change the color on the backlight display and it was really cool.

I put a bid in on the blue one, figured i could resell my red on ebay if I won it. I checked their web site. apparently blue backlight is now something they are doing now. If ...or should I say when...I get outbid on ebay I'll order one from Iron Cross. I'll put up some pics when I get it installed.

No thanks. My HK works perfectly in the rain, and I want to keep it that way.

What would that have to do with a blue backlight conversion?

They are talking about "cracking open" the HK to do changes. While I admittedly don't know the specifics, the relationship to preserving water-tightness seems obvious.

I beleive Ironcross even fixes water issues when they service the radios.

Not to worry...I've see it done. Removing the faceplate itself in no way harms the integrity of the liquid protection. The faceplate contact to the main chassis is protected by the weather seal with is not harmed by removing the faceplate. The liquid protection on the faceplate board itself is done by a series of conformal coatings. None of the 41 LEDs that are changed during the conversion requires the removal of any of the coating. In addition, ICA installs the liquid protection coating on the faceplate boards they modify if the did not have it (06 and some 07) and reinforces the boards that did. To be honest, your liquid protection is better after its been through their hands. I had a chance to use the blue for a couple of months this summer...no problem and looks great.
