#51
I can hear mine just fine without using the patch cord if I'm tooling around the city...the interstate is another thing.....but i do not find it that difficult to look down and see the 'next turn indicator' and follow the directions......
i thought i read somewhere that the Limiteds and the zumos were integrated if purchased after 5-18-10......

Road Tech Zumo 660 vs Garmin Zumo 660
The two units are different and the Garmin will not work with the Navigation module however you can download the dealer info from https://buy.garmin.com/shop/store/do...t=010-00727-24. If I do figure a way to make the Garmin Zumo to work with the Navigation adapter from HD I will be sure to post it.
I am also adding my response direct from Garmin.
Thank you for contacting Garmin International.
The Harley Davidson Road Tech Navigation Interface Module is not sold by Garmin directly and so the compatibility would have to be verified by the store or dealer that is selling it. There are differences in the standard Zumo units and the Harley Davidson units. Not all products that are compatible with a standard Zumo would be compatible with the Harley Davidson units. Or the other way around. The Harley Davidson units are designed just for Harley Davidson and so there are differences within the units.

Aleslinger, I know we've been PMing about this, but after looking at the picture of the accessories, the screenshots of the RT660 and watching the video from the OP in this thread, I don't see any difference in the HD unit and my Zumo 660, aside from the pre-loaded HD Dealers and the words "harley davidson" on the front....
Also, don't be fooled by the enclosed cigarette end cord in the picture. That is for the Car Cradle that comes with the unit. As it is, because the power cable is hardwired to the bike cradle, you have to hardwire the 660 cradle to your bike, making the cradle a permanent fixture. If you're thinking you can modify the car cradle to use on your bike (and take advantage of the cigarette plug end making the unit removeable)...I've tried and I couldn't find a way to make it work to my satisfaction. If someone figures it out...I'm all ears! If you have one in your hands, you'll probably see what I mean. It's too bad they didn't make the bike cradle with a plug in cable, esp since many bikers, myself included, would like to remove the cradle from the bike when we're not using it.
I do like the idea of shortening the 660 cable and modifying the end with an SAE/ and will be interested in what the "pros" say. Seems to me it would work, but what do I know!
If anyone comes up with a solution, I'm all ears. Maybe someone will come up with a bike cradle for the 660 that doesn't have to be hardwired.
Also, here's another mount option for those of you who are interested. http://www.leadermotorcycle.com/CTGY/GPS.html

I don't want to pay HD to hard wire the system in either. I think the car mount adapter has the same ball mount as the Nuvi series. Attach the GPS Zumo car mount to the back of the GPS, and use a mount for your bike that has the ball mount on it for a Nuvi GPS, you could use the cigarette plug and plug it in to your fairing cigarette lighter plug as if you were plugging it into your vehicle. Someone already sent a photo in for this on the first page.
