Got's 2 know

Why doesn't HD sell there bikes with true duals and what is the purpose of the crossover? It can't just be a money thing. Can it??

Better power from the Harley setup. It would be cheaper to leave it off, just like the new street glide.

New SG, as in the new 2 into 1? That was a huge deterrent for me with the 2010's.

that's why they do it. 2 into 1 is best power, but most bagger riders like the twin exhaust look. hense the cross over pipe. the way it's designed, most of the exhaust comes out of the right side, for the most power they can get.

It all comes down to E.P.A!!!!!!!

Ogre3239 Aug 24, 2009 09:14 PM

They are trying to get the most power with the EPA requirements.

no, no, no...you got it all wrong.

HD sells the scoots in their present form because they 'know' that people will end up buying pipes...some will buy SE pipes, other maybe not...but the "Add-on's" amount to a whole lot O money for the MoCo. They also know that if you do buy pipes, you'll probably do Stage I or > which is more $$ for the MoCo!

:D

koalacowboy I agree with you one hundred percent. Not to mention that ever time I go in for service work I spend a minimum of 150.00 just on cloths. Of course the MRS buys most of it. I think that I will leave her at home next time. Probly not though............

nailed it. if hd could get better performance out of a true dual it would be on there.

the reasons to go with a true dual system are looks, sound, and to get rid of some heat. not performance.....

you would lose some of the low end torque with true duals, the stock headers are more like a 2 into 1 actually, even though on the 09 and earlier they had two mufflers. most of your exhaust goes through the right muffler. to lose that low end torque would be almost unharley like. they're known for massey ferguson type tractor torque. without that torque at low rpm's it'd suck. i agree with koala cowboy also. imagine buying an 09 street glide. to make it really rideable on the interstate for any lenght of time, you'll need to replace that windshield, and perhaps the seat. ka ching goes the cash register. slip ons so it sounds like a real harley, and the list goes on. the motor company is brilliant with their marketing strategy. watch your dollars magically go from your wallet into their cash register if you don't believe it.
