This past week my uncle's RK crashed while he was driving it due to a "steering lockup" he expierenced while trying to pull off a ramp. He claims that he could not move the bike in any direction. I'm just wondering if anyone else has expierenced this while driving one. Thanks.

Sounds like the neck bearings froze up. Reminder to all. Keep your bearings greased! Hope your Uncle is ok.
I've heard of high speed wobble, but never a case of the steering locking up. I can't think of anything in the steering head that would suddeny lock with no warning. Must be an older bike. Possibly got rust in the bearings? Even then it would get stiff before completely locking up.

I'm a bearing distributor. Believe me, a bearing can lock right up. All it takes is not greasing them properly and they will fail every time. The cage holding the rollers goes out and then it locks right up. Just be glad it didn't lock up while in a turn. That would have been worse.
My uncle is doing fine; had a few broken ribs and a puntured lung from it. The bike was a rental from certified rental shop in town. We're not fully sure if the bearings were greased or not. Might have to check in on that. Thanks.
