I would suggest the M1 V-twin oil...

As far as the oil voiding your warranty. I don't think so... it meets the required standards... I would run away from them, and if you ever have a warranty issue, sounds like you will have to contact HD cause Frederick HD probably won't honor it.

The Mobile 1 15W-50 meets and exceeds HD's recommendations. It has an API CD rating which HD sez is okay. I've ran it in my '97 FLSTF since '97 with no problems. I like using it cause anywhere I go is a Wal Mart that sells it if I need a quart. The V-Twin 20W-50 is much more difficult to find. Mobile 1 tech's recommended the 15W-50 for air cooled V-twins till they developed the V-Twin 20W-50.

I think the real reason is that the dealers want to sell you oil... prob get HD oil for next to nothing so they get all the profit. Makes sense to me, the void your warranty crap is totally annoying bullshit... HD riders been modifying their bikes forever, they should accept it and help you do it, not hinder you.

My dealer tried to get me to change all fluids at every 5000 miles, in there shop of course. When I showed him that the manual only recommends that for crankcase only, he said , "oh, I was,nt aware of that".
Yea sure, I,ll change my own oil, Thankyou.

2009 FLHRC Vivid black

I took my 09 Road King in to the dealer for the 1000 mile service ( It was included in the deal) They recomended using AMSOIL 20-50 v twin oil. They had a display case set up in the service department with AMSOIL products.. One of my buddies is an AMSOIL dealer so I have been using it since.. I assume since they were recomending AMSOIL it wouldn't void the warranty.....
