Default Boom Audio XM Satellite Radio

Has anyone used the HD Boom Audio XM Satellite Radio P/N 76404-06? I like the idea of the XM radio and antenna mounted inside the fairing. It is always there, integrates with the Advance Audio System, operates using the audio system buttons, and is out of sight. However, the $499 price tag is a big chunk to swallow for a XM radio.

I've had it for a few years. I wouldn't be without it. It is too pricey but after hanging XM receivers on the bars for a few years I wanted something that I didn't have to worry about getting wet, being stolen, operating those tiny buttons while riding, etc. The HK module does everything I want using the OEM switches and I don't have to worry about it.

Having said all of that, if you just can't swallow the price you should check out the RoadTech XM unit that mounts on the bars. It used to be about half the price of the HK XM module. I had one of these also and it was by far the best of all the XM's that I had up to that point. Why? Because the buttons are big and easy to use with gloves, it had enough presets to meet all of my listening needs and the unit was waterproof as well. Never had to worry about it.

I ride long distances and the two things I can't do without are the XM and the cruise control. I'd give up my GPS before I'd give up either of these two.

Thanks everyone for the good inputs. I do not want to install a handlebar mount and have another electronic device out in the weather. I am going to start saving up my pennies now and will get the Boom XM module this winter. I like the idea the module is enclosed behind the fairing, does not need to be removed, out of site, and integrates with the existing audio system.

I have been thinking that this was replacement unit for the existing one. But this is just a "module" that you plug in and it adds XM thru the mode button???

If that is the case, then that is definately the way I am going. Price be damned..

I have it, love it for sure, no commercials, i would look at Chicago Harley or NewRoc Harley, 20 to 22% discount or buy a used one.

Default XM

I am told that there are 3 items that make the XM complete?

1. the module part # 76404-06

2. A mount for the antenna?

3. A wiring harness?

Can anyone confirm this and provide part numbers?

Thanks

Default XM

I wanted a XM, MP3 player, and GPS on the bike, but didn't want a buch of wires that would have to be disconected when I wanted to take them off. I got a Zumo 550 instead. The Xm works great and the NAV weather and traffic is real nice. not to mention bluetooth hands free
