Default Security Badges for work

I know many of us have to enter through security gates these days (military compounds) and show badges to gain entrance and was wondering how most of you display your badge while driving through these gates.

Even though it is Florida I still wear a light leather jacket in the morning and usually have my badge clipped to the inside of my coat so that I can reach it with my left hand.

Any better methods out there?

I have to stop and let the guard verify that I'm the guy in the picture on the badge.
I took the clip off the badge and store it inside my cassette player......at least it's good for SOMETHING!

I ride on to a millitary base every day, our base requires long sleeves, helmet, full-finger gloves, and a reflective vest. I wear the ICON Mil Spec vest http://www.alaskaleather.com/iconmil...ecenlarged.htm

There is a velcro attached clear pocket for your ID, better than having my badge flap around. Looks nicer than the cheap orange net-vest

My badge is on a lanyard around my neck
Because where I work you have go through metal detector, bomb detectors, Then swipe the badge and preform hand-geo
If the system reconizes the you the turnstile will unlock.
That's just inside the fence getting into the building is yet another story.
right after 9-11 we had to show a badge to get into the parking lot and I had to make sure to unbutton or unzip my jacket where I could get to my lanyard.

With the new Army uniform, the ACUs, we have a pocket on our sleeves. I put my ID and MSF card in there and just pull it out before stopping at the gate. When we had BDUs/DCUs without pockets on the sleeves I had an ID holder that strapped to my left arm. The problem with that was that the pouch was too tight so it was hard to get the ID out. I'd say get a jacket with a pocket on the sleeve, or go for that reflective vest option.

To enter our millitary base I have to stop and remove my helmet and sun glasses to be identified. My ID is carried on a lanyard and placed in my top pocket, I find it easer to produce it when entering different areas and it dosen't get hooked up if I am carring anything. I have seen them attached to your belt with a retractable cord. Overall a pain but necessary.

I ride to work every day, rain or shine, hot or cold. I use a waterproof case from Whiz Products. I place the lanyard around my neck, tuck the case into my shirt pocket. Then I just have to pull the lanyard when approaching the gate. It also comes in handy if I don't want to carry a wallet when walking around a large crowd. I just put my atm card, some cash, D/L and Military ID into it. I also used this in Europe because it was safer and I didn't have to worry about the pick pockets. These things are a little cheaper if they are carried on your base's exchange.
I didn't like the break away clips because they didn't feel secure enough, so I pulled them off and tied the ends together. Then pull the knot close to the case and it can't be felt on the back of your neck.
