Default 2007 EG Ultra Classic. . should I?

I'm looking at buying an '07 Ultra Classic, low miles, mint condition and looks to be bone stock. I've been away from the Harley marque for a few years and I was wondering if there are any "gotchas" relating to the '07 model year, or any known problem areas on the bike I should be looking closer at.

Any comments are appreciated.

Nothing to be concerned about at all - I had an '07 Road King and really liked it. The 96 inch motor and 6 speed transmission made their debut on the touring models that year, and they were great enhancements.

Fifth gear was a bit noisy (straight cut vs helical, for strength), but I viewed that more as a "feature", than a bug. But in any event, the complaints about the noise from owners inspired HD to do something about it by creating the IDS system, which is about a $300 retro fit for the '07s if you want it.

If the price is right, sounds like you have a great deal going...

My first Harley was an 07 ultra, low miles, stock and spotless. Like many others 5th gear is a little noisey. I have gotten around that and after 10k miles we just enjoy the ride.
Only problem is making this my bike has been a bit expensive. We put on an intake, pipes and PCV which have done everything they said they would.
When we were looking at it, my wife was talking me into it and I was talking her out of it. I'm glad she won.

No problems, Harley's are a lot more dependable now than they were back in the 70s and 80s.

Every year has a few improvements. The only thing to consider if it was between an 08 or 09 bike. Harley had a major change in the frame for 09. Big improvement for me.

Thanks for all the replies--they're much appreciated. There's nothing like getting information from people first-hand. . .I haven't bought it yet--I'm still working on the deal. I'll let you know if it goes through, with all the details.

It sounds like the '07s have been pretty solid with some happy customers!

Thanks again!
