Poll: Mileage on tires, brake pads
I am curious to know what kind of mileage other riders are getting from the stock tires on 2009-later touring models - specifically Ultras. Due to a flat, I replaced the rear with another stocker at about 12K miles, and only got 8,000 out of it. I'm over 20K miles now and the front tire still looks fine, plus the brake pads have never been changed. I just had the bike in for a service and they didn't mention anything about the pads being low, but I didn't ask them specifically about them. I wish I had.

2010 Limited: replaced both tires @ 12,000 as the front had worn cupped and was headed out for a trip. 2nd set still fine at 22,500 - both were Dunlops.
Front rotors warped and replaced pads and rotors at 22,000 miles. Put up with the uneven braking feel for a long time before that. Only one pad showed excessive wear.

on the 07 SG I had I got 5000 out of first back tire 6000 out of second switched to E3 and got a little over 9000. THe front I got about 20000. Back brakes replaced about 10000, fronts were still original when I traded it with 21000 but they were getting thin. No burn outs but I do tend to like the twisty side of the handlebars... a lot
Judging by what I have heard from others that have the newer bikes, I hope to get considerably more miles out of the tires on the new RG

wear/use
Hook- I'm at 20,000 and have to replace my front rotors too. The right one is bad and haven't had the left one checked yet. Pads were basically metal on metal. The warpage has been there since new, just progressively worstened.
OP- replaced rear tire at 18,900 miles. Coulda made a bit more but why press my luck. Original front tire. Had to replace my pads while on VACA this late summer and just now getting around to the discs.

21,800 on the 10 Ultra. They will be replaced this winter. The tires will be replaced this winter. New set is in the garage whenever I get to it.
Brakes have a long time to go. I use both brakes together always (except low speed turn of course) and go the speed limit combined with letting the speed scrub off before I get to the stop and use the brakes.
That is the best ever out of a rear tire for me. The front has the cupping problem that the 9's and 10's had so it goes with the rear.
For the heck of it I do want to go past 22K.
