I locked the wheel a few times on my old 1997 king, front and rear but never both at once.

I have locked the front and rear a few times on the 09 too. I have had the bars move fast on me and I too have hurt some muscles keeping the bike upright.

Had you not disabled your abs on the 2009 bike, you likely wouldn't have suffered the "hurt muscles". You would have also definitely stopped in a shorter distance. Why would you want to disable your abs brakes and who suggested that would result in a safer bike?
